The Heartwarming Tale of a Special Teddy Bear
Holofira's fifth birthday was the best birthday for her. It was when she met Maddie, a pink, cute and a special teddy bear given by her school friend, Isabella to her. Holofira loved Maddie so much that she took it with her wherever she went and told all her secrets to her she knew. It was her life companion and it sometimes seemed that Maddie was a real human being to Holofira.

Years passed and Holofira turned twelve. Her parents enrolled her into a new school. Becoming friends with completely new people wasn't an easy task for a shy girl like Holofira, especially when the school was almost filled with mean jerks. She shared all her feelings with Maddie, as if she wanted her to sit up and start talking to her.
''You know Maddie, today at school, that brilliant boy, felix was ridiculed at school for wearing those thick, steel rimmed glasses at school by Elijah and his gang today. Poor boy! He's just a new kid at school too! Maddie kept listening to her patiently while Holofira told her story.
Feeling sorry for Felix, the next day, at lunchtime, Holofira joined Felix in the cafeteria. Today she had brought buldak noodles for lunch, and an extra chicken sandwich with fries to share with felix.
She then introduced herself as Holofira and felix instantly became friends with her. Holofira wasn't the best at her studies but was good at maths. She discovered soon that Felix's favourite subject was maths too. They talked about fractions and how tricky maths sometimes can be.
''Have you heard about that famous mathematician, Isaac Newton, Holofira?''
''Oh of course I have! Which math lover hasn't heard about him? Any guesses?'' asked Holofira waiting for an answer.
'' Hah! You're so funny Holofira!'' said Felix, laughing.
'' I think the break's almost over now. We'll meet again tomorrow.'' said Holofira while standing up from her seat.
'' These fries are so yummy and this sandwich! It's just mmm… did you make it Holofira?'' said Felix while chewing that big bite of sandwich he took.
'' Yeah… I made it in the morning only…'' said Holofira feeling a little shy after hearing her appreciation from felix.
The bell rang, and the children went back to their own classes. Holofira took out her geography book while waiting for her geography teacher, miss Averil. She also took out her notebook in which she copied all the important notes from the teacher's lecture.
After the school ended, Holofira returned home. As soon as she returned home, she hugged Maddie with some exciting news for her. She told her all what happened in school today.
''Maddie teddy, you know what happened at school today? I went to Felix and shared that chicken sandwich we both made. He's so smart and his favourite subject is maths too! Surprising, isn't it? Finally, I have a friend too!'' Holofira told everything to Maddie in one breath, as she was so happy to have a new friend at this new school.
Days passed, and soon Holofira and Felix became good and more closer friends. They used to go at each other's house to complete assignments, watch science movies together and talked a lot. Holofira now became too busy with felix that she soon forgot all about Maddie her first and last best friend. Years passed, and Holofira graduated from college. She started to work as a waitress in a restaurant named Wendy's. This was the restaurant where Holofira and Maddie used to drink coffee in rainy days. She used to work their daily to manage her daily expenses all by herself, as she lived alone in a small house, after she left America and came in a foreign country, Pakistan. Her family lived in America and Holofira came to Pakistan for her further studies.
On a tiring Saturday evening, when Holofira returned from work she lay down on her bed. She was very tired and wanted to sleep badly, but couldn't sleep. So she took out her phone and started to watch a k-drama called 'Sweet Home'. It was her favourite k-drama as she was a fan of horror movies. At the most horror part of the episode, Holofira suddenly remembered something she used to hug while watching horror movies. Something very important to her. Something pink, something soft and furry, with black eyes, and a beautiful smile on her face.
''Maddie!'' she screamed, '' Maddie! Oh Maddie, where are you Maddie?''
She looked around her room, while getting up from bed, in search of Maddie her best friend that had been with her since kindergarten. Looking under her bed, she found an old wooden box. Curiously, she opened the box. A bright shining light came from the box. It was her, Maddie! She was kept in the box by Mrs. Magda while she was cleaning Holofira's room. While cleaning, she found Maddie lying on the floor looking sad. Knowing that Holofira loved her deeply and Maddie was Holofira's best friend, she kept her in the wooden box carefully.
And exactly, two years later, Holofira met Maddie again, her forever bestie. They hugged each other, not wanting to stop. Holofira realized her mistake, and apologized to her for leaving her for more than five years. If Mrs. Magda hadn't kept her in the wooden box, then Maddie would have been completely destroyed.
In return Maddie smiled again, for the first time in at least six years. Holofira's forever wish came true; as Maddie gained the power to stand up and start talking to Holofira!
That is why we must never leave our old friends as new friends are exciting but as it is said; ' OLD IS GOLD'. We must make new friends, but when we leave our old friends, it hurts their feelings very badly. After realizing that ( IF) you made a mistake in your past, you must apologize to that friend, just like Holofira apologized to Maddie for betraying her for almost six years. We must cherish our friendships, both old and new.
